A friend of mine loaned me this book when I mentioned the need to clear my home of some stagnant energy. Kingston provides perspectives on home clearing, along with a LOT of very helpful instruction and tips for success. There's much here I can practice over time and get better at doing, but I also saw some immediate benefits to incorporating some of her techniques into my shaman's smudging ceremony -- especially in terms of preparation.In fact, I've bought additional books by Kingston and by Denise Linn (who did the foreword for this book) based on my good experience. I recommend this book for anyone seeking to improve the energy of their home. It was easy to learn and make the parts I incorporated my own.
This is a must read for anyone who needs to clear clutter. It is also perfect for anyone going through a break up because it helps to clean your space out. This is also great for people who have a hard time choosing what to keep and what to discard/donate. I have given at lease four copies to friends and always get another for myself to have as a reference book.
Great book...fun to great. Some parts a little too mystic for me, but Karen is a great writer..writes as if shes personally speaking to you and inspires you to clean up all your clutter....in your home, yard....and in your head! Her other books concerning feng shui are worth purchasing as well.
This helped me push a lot of STUFF out of my house and life. Just because it was a gift doesn't mean I have to keep it til I die. Appreciate the gift. Appreciate the person that gave it to you. Remember the good feeling of receiving; but if it doesn't fit-get rid of it. This book released me from the guilt of giving to charity or a garage sale a gift that I'll never use. I don't think I'll be ringing bells or clapping hands but I really enjoyed the book.
i bought three books to begin familiarizing myself with feng shui. i was more interested in pointers on the basics of what to actually do. this one was a little too "spiritual" for me. i understand that's where it stems from, but it wasn't what i wanted from the book. "move your stuff, change your life" hit the mark for me, giving me immediate ideas of what to move/do rather than spiritual guidance.
This is one of my 2 go-to manuals for space clearing. The other is Denise Linn's book Sacred Space and Fast Feng Shui for Singles by Stephanie Roberts (believe it or not the fast feng shui book has an ultimate space clearing guide that is very powerful and fun).
What a powerful, simply written little book! Having long been a student of spiritual things, first devout Christianity, then a broader embrace of the subtlety of grace, I thought nothing would astound me, but this book is brilliant. It is not about the technical instruction for 'space clearing' which certainly is a big part of this book, but it is about opening your eyes to the spiritual in everything in your life. In my own life, the energy surrounding me had been dark and depressing for some months. I found this book on a wild google chase, read it in two days, and it literally transformed me and everything around me. It was an energy issue that had very much to do with my house, my space, my head. This book is more than Feng Shui and certainly more intuitive and more accessible information than most other analytical books on the art. It is simply written without pretense, and incorporates Karen's obvious knowledge of who and what God is. Amazing.
This is a great book, it does offer interesting insight into aspects of feng shui that are not discussed in other feng shui books. It is also well written, it feels like a journey at the end of which you find yourself uplifted, in much better spirits and with a different view of even common things.What's also nice about it is that is simple and clear, easy to understand and easy to implement. The elements presented though are not superficial.And it doesn't fill you with all kind of knick-knack tricks you have to do to achieve certain results but rather it gives a more generous and bigger picture. It has a sacred approach to the subject rather than a commercial one!The only problem it leaves you with is that it presents some things different than in other books, so at the end you ask yourself which one should you follow. I guess it's just an open gate to experiment yourself and conclude.But overall, an interesting and uplifting book, not to miss.
